New to the flash, other than the pop up

I bought the SB 600, because my nephew was getting married and I was asked to take pictures of the ceremony and reception. The “pop-up” flash on my Nikon was not able to do the job I needed, and the SB 600 did the job great. I had some pics were there were shadows behind the couple, but I might have had the flash pointed toward them instead of up, other than that the photos were great, The couple was happy with the photos, and I was really happy that I got this flash instead of the 900, the 600 did everything I needed it to, and more! No problems with it over heating, or being slow.[...]

Great For What Is Worth

The Flash is great for photo enthusiasts, who do not want to pay $350-500 dollars for the bigger and more powerful sb-800 and sb-900.The flash is consistent, which i love. I use it a lot as a slave for doing portraits. With that being said, there are couple thing you could say are cons to this flash. for one, it doesnt have a PC sync jack. So, if you want to it trip with a radio popper, [...]trigger or whatever kinda trigger u use, u have to buy a hot shoe with a pc sync jack. Also, the power on this tiny flash is not that powerful. When using a softbox with this, softboxes usually steps down the output by 1 stop, this really put a lot on the flash coz you have to up the power out more. Which will make recycling time long than just using 1/2 or 1/4 power. If you wanna use a external battery pack for this guy, your out of luck. This doesnt have a jack for that too.Even with all those Cons, Overall though, im still very happy with this flash. I just brought extra thigns to make it work like, the hot shoe with pc sync cord – $4 bucks, recharchable battery and some triggers.
